Greetings,
Last night I checked out a few Phil Keaggy videos on YouTube and I was very surprised.
I had heard about him since I was about 19, and heard he was a great guitar player, but
what I heard of him never really caught my ear or brain. If I was told that he was a
crossover Jazz-Classical-Pop artist who was Christian, I would have been interested.
It turns out some of his playing is closer than 95% of most prog out there to authentic
classical "improvisation."
Check out The Reunion, The Wind and the Wheat, him playing the Moog Guitar,
Castle's Call / Pilgrim's Flight, and Fragile Forest. This is about 90% of the selections
I made on YouTube, that is, I haven't listened to much of his catalog yet.
