I use Spotify with my iPhone so I would say anything I'd like to listen to. I have some King Crimson and Beatles albums in my phone though, since they're not on Spotify.

I also have my whole collection on my cell phone since I often listen to the music when I'm outside home. But I gonna buy a DAP because the quality of sound is not as good as I wish it was and remove almost everything from phone. Wink Btw, do you have any prog song as a ringtone in your cell phone?

I've got the fast bit from the middle of "Perpetual Change". Normally when my phone rings, people go "what the Censored is that?".

My ringtone is Going for the One by Yes; anything more advanced I'm afraid would send non-prog rockers into a paralyzed state of numb consciousness. This is really all I can do with this phone is make a ringtone. Well, I can also take pictures

Yeah, I'm not going to be happy until I have a "phone' with the capacity of my Zune player.  But I make do. Big smile   I carry around a high capacity flash drive with my whole collection that I can plug into it just in case.
Released date are often when it it impacted you but recorded dates are when it really happened...

I've got a Nokia which ran out of memory after taking almost 50 pictures at the beach one day. Doubt it could hold a song on it, let alone some half-hour prog epic.

Would get a better phone, but I keep on buying albums Smile

If I use my phone for music it's mainly to stream stations like Delicious Agony or Aural Moon.  I still carry around an iPod with tons of my music on it that I listen to most of the time.

I am shocked by the amount of people here that stream radio stations.  I personally need to listen to full albums, and I assume that stations only play one track and move on.  I am not a 1 track iTunes generation type of person, and I thought that is what most prog lovers would be.

I'm shocked at the amount of people that stream or download compressed digital music files in general.
Another music store bit the dust in my area once again

I'm with you there (though I'm more surprised rather than shocked). I don't get the appeal of streaming. There are times when one song from an album is enough (a few tracks from Hammill's Nadir's Big Chance come to mind). One meal and I'm full. But then there are other times when I want a whole album. One track from ... Snow Goose isn't enough. There really is a sense of cohesion on that album, so why not continue with other tracks from the album?

CD or FLAC is always prefereable,  BUT Lossless formats are not always cheap.  I buy many digital downloads, and the sound quality is very good.  Very high quality lossy satisfies most people that listen on their phone, car, or computer.  I have an excellent stereo, but I rarely use it these days.  My only request is that all digital download stores offer a Lossless format, because I do not need the plastic.

^^ I don't see the need to have music on phones. Phones are for communicating from long distance not for MUSIC!!
