ELEMENTAL was a psychedelic space-rock band based in Ashford, Kent, active between 1996 and 1998. Their material mainly consisted of effects-laden instrumentals with much emphasis on improvisation.

John Wood (guitar, vocals)
Marc Neudeck (bass)
Martyn Cheesman (drums)

Tracks 1-3: rehearsal demo 1 (July 1996)
Tracks 4-6: from rehearsal demo 2 (c. 1997)
Recorded at Octopus Inc. Studios, Newtown, Ashford.

Track 7: JMBW rehearsal (1998)
Recorded at The Victoria, Ashford.

Track 7 is not Elemental, but a one-off jam between John, Marc and drummer Bruce Allen (Mind Octopus), plus keyboardist Wayde Hendricksen.

Woodsman Music England, UK
A small independent web-label based in Kent, UK, dedicated to unearthing some of the lost treasures of the region's rich musical history.

Well they're kind of from my neck of the woods so I will check them out, but they don't seem to have any official releases then? Just rehearsals?

Recordings

  • 1996 Rehearsal demo
  • various unreleased demo/rehearsal tracks exist

I don't see how they meet the criteria of bands "that have released at least one album and are compatible with our definition of an "official release."

jam rock with a spacey touch - not quite professional
sound quality is moderate - does not look like a reliable album release

Yes, you're right, chopper. Well, I thought about it, but because I like the rough sound of that English space rock band that was active at undergound scene almost twenty years ago and because a digital album is released on a net label, I had decided to post this suggestion - in a hope that there might be a chance for the band to be interesting for the Archives

Agreed, this is basically a good demo tape but not enough to get them on PA.

Elemental's album only needs another title.

Smile we only recorded it on a Yamaha 4track (magnetic tape) and ambient mike-ing.
so naturally we wont ever have sounded like The Pink Floyd.
