Which one of these tracks penned by Tony Banks is your favorite? Burning Rope's meaning still eludes me to this day, but a good song nonetheless. I gotta go with The Lady Lies, fantastic song live.

Undertow, for me, is one of the best songs Banks ever wrote.

I picked "Undertow," a fine song!!

Banks did fantastic stuff throughout this LP, one of my favorites of that year.

Wow !!
Five excellent tracks.
I'd have to go for 'The Lady Lies'.
ATTWT is such an under appreciated album. Banks has been a virtuoso for years by this time, and he's really on fire throughout this period.

I've never heard the B-side to Many Too Many (The Day The Light Went Out), but from first listen, it's not big on my list.

I'm actually surprised at the results!! Usually the song longest in length wins polls. So far, Undertow's winning. And I'll put my vote into that pool. Strong emotion, that one. Everything's in its right place. Drums are tight, Phil's voice is soaring, and Banks' keyboards set the whole atmosphere.

The Day The Light Went Out

Didn't make the album as it was deemed to be too much like early Genesis apparently. Its a killer track much better than most of the album imho ( I would only put Deep In The Motherlode above it) and I really like the album as it is.

I scored the 7" of Many Too Many years ago, plain sleeve, and it features Lights Went Out and a track called Vancouver.
Also there's the Spot The Pigeon EP, which I always came across lumped in with the 'Rarities' section at record fairs, but many vendors had a copy for sale either way. It has the wonderful track 'Inside And Out'.
Off topic, there's something special about Duke. I loved it when I bought my copy in 1987, forgot about it for years, then re-discovered it a couple of years back and it hit me for six.......(I must be getting old.......)
Oh, I feel that Phil has bought an element of his Brand X playing to his drums on ATTWT. Just blowing.

I've seen that Pigeon EP at nearly every record store I've been to. Most of the time, they have nothing from Genesis but 5 new copies of that EP. When I find it used, I'll pick it up and listen. I thought maybe it was shotty bootlegs at first glance. Leftovers from Wind & Wuthering, eh? I'll definitely check it out. AND that Vancouver song, haha. Thanks

When was this said? Would love to read/hear/watch whatever interview this was from.

I quite like the song as well, would have been a great fit for the album, both musically and lyrically. Vancouver could have worked but I don't know, sounds like it would have fit better on Duke.

I think it sounds quite like pre Trick Genesis, but with the modern Dave Hentschel production. It would have been a welcome addition for the album, perhaps replacing 'Scenes from a nights dream' or maybe replacing Your own Special Way or Wot Gorrila on WAW.
