Please don't make tons of polls of Big Band 1 vs Big Band 2. PLEASE.

Here - an easy vote for Rush. I like Rush's classic era more than Genesis' plus Rush's consistently great, though still everchanging albums afterwards are a huge plus. Genesis' pop period is good, but not that good.

And don't go over to jazzmusicarchives and make big band polls.

Released date are often when it it impacted you but recorded dates are when it really happened...

I think feel Genesis' music is somewhat richer and offers a greater palette of emotions.

I voted for Genesis. They're my favorite band after all, so I could never not vote for them. I love Rush, though. Such an amazing band and a favorite of mine.

Genesis, not including everything released after "Wind and Wuthering". But Gabriel's Genesis blows away Rush, IMO. And I like Rush.

This---I own like 3 or 4 Rush albums and pretty sure that's all I need---Nursery Crime, FOxtrot, SEBTP, the Lamb, Trick, Wand W---these are prog rock genius music---Rush is a very good rock with proggy overtones band. But in all honesty I don't think 3 very good musicians can top 5 genius musicians.

I think it's apples/oranges really. Both bands couldn't be more different than each other. Rush aren't a 'Symphonic Prog' band. It would be different if the poll pitted two bands who performed within that style against each other, but, alas, another poll that doesn't make much sense.

Yet Genesis could sometimes be somewhat heavy.

Yes, they definitely could, but the general style of both Genesis and Rush are poles apart from each other stylistically, don't you think?
