Topic: Marillion vs. Porcupine Tree (two songs) Posted: July 30 2014 at 15:14 |
Second and third prog wave, IMO both two great bands, and two superb tracks from their earlier periods. For me is too difficult...

Eh, not one of my favorites from Script. PT wins this one for me.
Now, if it was Chelsea Monday...

How different could be our tastes...actually Chelsea is my least favourite song from Script. Title one and Sons are my prefered. That is diversity! I must make a poll of this album...

Forgotten Sons by a long way, though this is one of the PT songs that I actually like.

Marillion wins hands down. Forgotten Sons is possibly the best song on "Script" for me. Agree with "genbanks" and "sleeper"

Still 8 deranged jackasses voted for PT. This place is becoming too weird.

And surely will be more, this band and this song are both two really amazing. In any case the diversity of opinions is one of the best things of PA! IMO...

Neither actually. I prefer PT over Matillion, but boring and overblown The Sky Moves Sideways never was my cup of tea. Marillion's song is far from being the best track on its album as well.

but Marillion should be winning anyway. Maybe it's not a prog site.

Are you views on music and personality so distorted that anyone with a differing view is a deranged jackass?
How bout -
Marillion is awful and just a copy of a band they wish they were 10 years prior. Their music is boring and uninspired.

My thoughts about this "debate" are
- Porcupine tree actually is a prog band, as good as Marillion - Different points of view are a healthy thing - Marillion is a great band that I enjoy too much, specially with their first and second albums.

I'd get it if we were talking about Kayo Dot or some sh*t, but PT is totally prog, and has been one the most popular bands in the style for years now. I like Marillion but they are too pop to be a first tier band (lyrically one of the best though).
