Right? Imagine opening a pack and coming across a foil Garruk or Nissa? Lol!

And awesome pic, Meltdowner! Thumbs Up

I built a pretty solid green/red deck fairly quickly last evening, and did quite well via winning 2/3 games we had LOL.

There were some very weak green/red decks from Innistrad and Return to Ravnica. What's the strategy of that one? Smile

Good thing it's composed mostly of M15 and Theros cards LOL.

My strategy with this one is straight aggro-overwhelm. Flood the field with big creatures fast with mana ramping, then hit red instants like lightning strike and lava axe, all while boosting my creatures with green spells that boost everyone +1/+1 and +2/+2. Then, I play an overwhelm sorcery giving my entire field +3/+3, and that's usually game.

Debating on going to FNM early if I do go tonight. I want to try out my Hornet Queen deck against strangers so bad.

Theros brought some great green/red creatures.
I played against some green/red decks with that strategy, but they were weak against creatures with flying.

That's a well-known fact that I took into account when building my deck. There definitely comes a point when you have to really stick to a particular strategy to maximize its effectiveness, and hopefully hit hard and fast enough to take your opponent out before they can exploit that gap. This works particularly well with aggro decks, but almost nothing else.

All of my other decks are based on a well-rounded approach to having flyers and blockers. Equipping a flyer such as hornet queen with Titanic Growth, and Overwhelm with all those tokens, then a Brawler's Plate artifact to give it Trample is pretty much my favorite win-con ever LOL.

Picked up the following intro deck this evening while out with the girlfriend. The reason being for the price, you can't beat what you're getting here. It came with two additional booster packs, and I bought a third on the side as well. I actually made out quite well with my boosters, pulling a Master of Predicaments and Avacyn, Guardian Angel.

The deck played surprisingly smooth considering it's composed of cards I almost never play (and avoid, to an extent). I never found the "bounce" cards very helpful, but they make all sorts of sense now that I've played them in combination with one another. Mercurial Pretender is an awesome card! I swept the first game with this deck right out of the box (after sleeving it, of course):

Here's what the "Hit The Ground Running" deck above contained for cards (I won the first round right out of the gate with it, playing with it just for fun to test it out LOL):

Nice intro deck. You have some creatures on the other spells by the way.
That Master of Predicaments seems like a fun card to play Big smile

Yeah, I'm thinking about drafting Mercurial Pretender and Master of Predicaments into my main green/blue deck. I think they'll provide a nice variance to my main strategy. MoP could be an awesome late-gamer to get something into play, and Pretender could double a Terra Stomper thats got trample, lol.

As I predicted LOL Master of Predicaments is a super fun card to play in both standard and modern.

Almost time for Khans, people...

Played a bunch of games at the lady's house post-dinner last evening; always a good time.

I'm hoping to fit a few games in later this evening; my updated U/G deck is swinging pretty heavy LOL.

Any good games/recent pickups lately, guys/gals?

Setting up last night's game; it was nearly a clean-sweep with the U/G Hornet Queen deck Tongue.

Constructed an experimental goblin/aggro deck. I'm excited to test it out after the gym this evening Smile.

There are some fun goblin decks. Do you know this card?

By the way, here's the Khans of Tarkir intro pack decklist:

Not only do I know that card, I have it in my goblin deck! Also, Goblin Rabblemaster Wink.

Awesome link, btw! I'm so excited for the new expansion! Picking up some new card sleeves today, actually. Speaking of which; do you guys/gals prefer Ultra Pro or Dragon Shields? All we have around here is the former, and I've never been too keen on ordering sleeves online and waiting for them (unless someone can prove it's worth it).

Indeed it is! Gives you +1 each turn if I'm not mistaken (for each goblin you have attacking), and gives you a 1/1 goblin creature token!

Here's a question we were arguing over the other night: do tokens get considered "creatures" once out on the field, and are thus subject to all the effects of anything with the term "creature(s)" in it? I couldn't find a reasonable answer to this, and we're still wondering. For example, if I play a card that says "Gain 2 life for each creature on the battlefield", and there are four creatures and four creature tokens - am I getting +4 or +8 life?

You get +8 life, tokens count as creatures.
They don't count to "creature goes to graveyard" abilities though.
