I am really enjoying Heaven and Earth right now, so it gets my vote.  Although, I liked Big Generator when I first got it too.

Heaven And Earth, but I reckon it will get an obviously higher rating than Big Generator in a couple of months...

Oy. I rather drink my own urine.

Big Generator I guess.
Dig me...But don't...Bury me
I'm running still, I shall until, one day, I hope that I'll arrive

Well it should it is really a tasteful album with lot's of great playing---not to mention it has a very tasty prog epic in Subway Walls which is more then I can say for the other low rated Yes albums. Great summer listen for me--I mean it doesn't always have to be Sound Chaser at this point in my life and in their career. Someone called Howe the BB KING of prog recently---his playing on this album is so cool--love to listen to him---as he approaches 70---he still plays with the exuberance of a 17 year old.

Maybe it's because I had the cassette growing up, but Big Generator is by far my favorite album outside of the classic period of 71-77. It's a 9/10 in my mind, and a pretty high 9 at that.
Heaven and Earth was bearable, but just barely. Really the only notable song on there is Subway Walls. I'd call it a 6/10

Big Generator by a wide margin for me. It has some punch and great guitar work from Trevor Rabin. H & E is very sleepy and nobody really stands out. Production wise BG is a masterwork IMO; it just sounds great. H&E does not sound great. I was expecting better sound from Roy Thomas Baker!

Haven't listened enough yet to H&E. Big Generator is a two stars album for me.
Curiosity killed a cat, Schroedinger only half.

BG was very much part of that eighties 'big sound' thing which I mostly hate. Its okay and better than what Pink Floyd were doing on A Momentary Lapse Of Reason or Emerson Lake and Powell. However a proper eighties band Simple Minds were better than all of them at that time!

H&E is actually wonderfully produced imo. It doesn't need a punch. I don't need to be knocked down at my time of life. Happy to listen to a delicate laid back and sweet offering. Makes a change from much modern day prog with is metal based and so self consciously dark.

Confession time.  I've not heard either of these.

I just was never inspired to get Big Generator, I really disliked the Yes of that era.  I've not got round to H&E yet but probably will do as I really like Davison.

Am I missing anything?

I finally listened to Heaven & Earth

Wow, it is bad.

Big Generator gets my vote....    which doesn't mean it's good  ...   but it's definitely better than H&E as far as i 'm concerned.
