Thanks for translating!
But ... This and more info should be available on the youtube page under the video window. I edited the text in the video in Dutch, but gave a lot more info in English in separate text lower on the page.

Nice to hear Alquin's version of space rock released from the vaults Thumbs Up.

For the interested PA readers who are not familiar with the Dutch language I translate what is said:

Alquin entered the Soundpush studio on Monday 22 April 1974 to record a single. The song was titled "To Wake Up a Friend".

In the middle of the recording day (afternoon and evening) the band left to eat at the local Chinese restaurant. A few band members returned to the studio earlier: Ferdinand Bakker (guitar), Paul Weststrate (drums), Dick Franssen (Hammond organ) and Job Tarenskeen (on bass guitar) started with a driving tempo.

Jan, the technician, added a repeat, as though the musicians were playing with their own echo. After a few minutes, Ronald Ottenhoff (saxophone) joined in. A unique recording evolved out of this spontaneous improvisation: "Freak Out at Blaricum".
The only copy on tape (19 cm/sec, 2-track stereo) has been digitalized recently.

Thanks so much for posting this, Paul. Being an instrumental jam, this has just the kind of feel and vibe that I find so appealing about Alquin-a free spirit amdst some really intelligent and cerebral structure. I love your drumming style so much! I will be revisiting this.

A unique recording has surfaced from ALQUIN: ‘Freak out at Blaricum’ (12’:55”)

ALQUIN performed a unique 13 minute long jam session, while recording a single at SOUNDPUSH studios at Blaricum, Holland in 1974. This is the digitized soundfile taken from the only existing stereo tape copy, combined with original pictures and other illustrations.

Hope you enjoy, although it may not be completely progrock, it certainly has the distinguishing Alquin-sound.
