Topic: The 'IQ' Poll Posted: August 18 2014 at 01:17 |
'Harvest...' used to b my fav IQ epic... But ever since i've heard 'Without Walls' from their latest album...nothing else comes close...'19min 15secs' of perfection.

Neither really although both have great moments.
My favourite IQ epics are The Last Human Gateway , Further Away and The Province of The King

I prefer Harvest of Souls.
For me, Without Walls is the weakest track (relatively) on an otherwise stellar album.
My favourite IQ epic is The Narrow Margin, though they have many great contenders.

Going with Harvest for now, as I'm just getting into Road of Bones.

Although a big fan of IQ since the early 80s neither of these is a great favourite of mine, so no vote. HOS just leans too heavily on Suppers Ready imo whilst the new epic doesn't really inspire me. My favourite IQ epic is Last Human Gateway but to be honest I've never found epics to be their speciality. Their 7-14 minute tracks tend to be their best.

Harvest of Souls, easily. I don't get the high ratings for the new album at all. None of the tracks jump out at me the way songs like Rykker Skies, Frequency and Harvest did.
Right now, The Road of Bones is ranked as the best prog album of the last three decades ('90s, '00s, '10s)!!! Of course it'll drop over time; but still, there's no excuse for that.

There's every excuse for that. Some think it IS the best album of the last three decades (I'd rate it in the top 6 myself with Subterranea, The Last Bright Light, The Masquerade Overture, Second Life Syndrome and A Nod and a Wink).

Really? Who here thinks it's the best album of the last three decades? I'm curious...

Neither. I find IQ to be pretty boring actually. All of their albums sound the same to me.

Both songs have their moments but I prefer their slightly shorter songs like Ryker Skies, Sacred Sound, Frequency, and especially Province of the King.

Harvest of Souls.

When he rides, my fears subside. For darkness turns once more to light. Through the skies, his white horse flies. To find a land beyond the night.
