Sorry man... I can't follow you there. This is as 'urban' as white bread Micky can get.. hey hey... I can dig it!! I do have soul..and the great ability to shake ones ass....just no anger to go wit it.
No worries there Micky....and yeah believe me I can dig that kind of thing too! My love for hip hop stems from having heard Sly & The Family Stone in the Woodstock flick. Must've been 10. From there on it evolved into Funkadelic, Otis Redding, Stevie Wonder (early 70s), Gil Scott Heron and then I took a turn into jazz and started listening to Miles and Coltrane. So when my friends started listening to hip hop, I gave it a shot - mostly because I heard a lot of the music I already knew and loved being used extensively in the samples. That was my way in, that and then the beats.
Come to think of it, I started listening to Michael Jackson waaaay before the age of 10...

Funny.. same here. but I couldn't make the jump to hip-hop. Not for lack of exposure. A lof of my younger muso friends are really into it and have tried to get me into it and I just couldn't get it. I'm generally open minded... but I am no saint. I just can't enjoy it, nor frickin 'new' country but I know the root of that, I see that as an abomination of old school country was, which was very authentic, which I have a strong passion for. Today's country is mostly Nashville Machine corporate driven and as believable as if someone put Raff in a hat and boots and some... ummmm....some tight fittin' jeans.. and put her out there with an acoustic guitar and singing bullsh*t songs. bah...

RIP Jack Bruce One of my all time favorite singers and musicians has died. I used to celebrate his birthday (May 14) every year. And I still consider side 2 of his solo album Harmony Row to be one of a handful of perfect album sides.
I heard when my friend texted me when I was out running. Here's what i listened to on my run
LIARS - "They Were Wrong, So We Drowned" (2004) ANIMAL COLLECTIVE - "Here Comes the Indian" (2003) And now THE DEAD C - "Armed Courage" (2013)

Their mid-era stuff, which I haven't heard, is supposedly not very good but they returned to their old style on the one before this which sounds like somewhere halfways between Gothic and Shades of God. It's pretty good, though I've never liked Nick Holmes' clean vocals as much as his growls.
