Where in the world do they play Merzbow, of all music projects, on the radio?

Ah.

For the record I'm listening to a Japanese punk band called Raiya. Try to imagine an oddly seamless hybrid between Oi! in the style of Cockney Rejects and epic heavy/power metal, complete with positive inspirational lyrics and you shouldn't be far off.

I've become a total sucker for this new movement of retro-1980s electronic music taking its inspiration from Giorgio Moroder, Tangerine Dream and Vangelis' film soundtracks of that era. (see also ActRazer, Lazerhawk, Miami Nights, Mitch Murder etc.) Anyone else know which other sources of inspiration inform this stuff? There are quite a few synth-pop/New Wave groups from that era I haven't gotten around to checking out yet.
