I guess I listen to about 30% vinyl and 70% digital through the same HI-Fi*. Both sounding great to my ears. I just don't get how Flac (or 320bit)-rips can be virtually unlistenable for some if the CD's they are ripped from are supposedly OK. I certainly can't hear any difference and it doesn't seem that HI-Fi freaks can either when tested. Streaming-sites such as Spotify on the other hand sounds kind of crappy compared to the same music on physical format.

*only digital through my Ipod classic when outside of course. Got a portable vinylplayer but only listen to jazz and oldies on 78rpm on it

FLAC employs a lossless data compression algorithm, when decompressed it is an exact copy of the original audio data.

320bit MP3 is a lossy data compression algorithm, when decompressed it is not an exact copy of the original audio data.  However, I don’t think you will be able to hear a difference with 320.  Lower bit rates there will be perceivable differences.  I don’t like to support any MP3’s for my precious music strictly because they are a lossy format.

Yes…

FLAC definitely no difference.

320bit MP3 very unlikely there will be a perceivable difference.

I never listen to vinyl or CDs anymore.  It all comes from my computer.
I have it connected to my good speakers and it sounds great to me.

I love the idea of a shuffle list that is thousands of tracks long

You never know what will pop up next.

:)

Of course, I also listen to full albums depending on my mood but it all comes from the computer these days.

About 90% of my listening time is with mp3s.  I buy stuff on CD or vinyl, and convert it to mp3 for everyday use.  When I have the time and inclination, I listen to the "good" copies on my stereo.

its both digitally and sometimes on CD; i actually chose the latter so that it wouldn't feel as depressed as most people turn to iTunes and/or Spotify nowadays.

I'm not sure how to vote here. At my house, CD's most of the time. In my car, IPod most of the time... or wherever else I might travel that I might want to listen to some music on my own, IPod too. Whenever I might want to listen to some selection of songs instead of complete albums in my house, I might end up choosing the IPod or coomputer too.
