I noticed that 2 hours ago Genesis posted a very interesting post on their Facebook page...

https://www.facebook.com/genesis?ref=stream&fref=nf

Does anyone know what this news is?!

I think the fact that they have a new logo is very promising indeed...

The fact that the new logo is cheesy is not promising...
Trust me. I know what I'm doing.

I guess it is a tour or maybe even a new album. They're talking about "some exciting news tomorrow". Anyway, Phil Collins has shown some signs of renewed activity lately.

Btw, the new logo doesnt impress me...

Meh. Ermm

As a cover image it might be cool, but as a logo...not so much. A logo should say something about the band, all this says to me is that "Genesis" the band is all about "One Face" (anyone care to guess who??).

As with the recent Yes debacle I am soooo wary of my heroes reforming or coming out of retirement that very little of what is said excites me these days. The proof will always be in the pudding. In the last 10 years there has only been two albums from the giants that have really resonated with me. The Keith Emerson Band and King Crimson A Scarcity of Miracles.
Thank you for supporting independently produced music

If they did a new album with Phil, I'd be pretty stoked about that.  We'll see.

And I think the logo is fine.

I actually kind of dig the new logo; it fits well.

Let's see what this news is all about...

I like the logo!

As for the news..

Mike Rutherford is on the road with Mike and the Mechanics in April and May.

Phil Collins has announced his first live show in 4 years for December.

Maybe a 2015 Autumn tour?

Too often the old dinosaurs deliver only decent albums in their attempts to escape their fossile state.  I fear that the same will be the case with new work by Genesis. From this point of view the logo with its shadowy face makes some sense.

Nevertheless there may be some surprises: VdGG's A Grounding in Numbers  was an excellent album (imho). Other good ones: Ian Anderson's Thick As a Brick 2 and Clockwork Angels by Rush.

It looks like what happens when someone's pen explodes in their shirt pocket. But I don't care what their new logo looks like. If the news is a new album, I'll be so stoked, I'll hardly be able to stand it while waiting for it to come out.

My ear to the ground (a journalist near to one of the band members) thinks that this may well mean a reunion of the three key members but also possibly with Hackett (though probably not Gabriel) with a tour, as Phil Collins has largely overcome his back injury and can gig again.
A TVR is not a car. It's a way of life.

If the Hackett part is true then this would be AMAZING!

I'd like to think that it has legs as we know they've been meeting for the BBC documentary and Hackett's Genesis Revisited tour wraps up at the end of this year.

Gabriel's tour wraps up in December also. Although may be being a bit too hopeful...

Can't wait for tomorrow!

Amazon shows the following:

http://www.amazon.co.uk/R-Kive-Genesis/dp/B00MV5LR9K/ref=pd_ybh_1

Spanning 42 years, this 3-CD, 37-track set documents the band’s history with classic Genesis material compiled alongside selections from the solo careers of Tony Banks, Phil Collins, Peter Gabriel, Steve Hackett, and Mike Rutherford / Mike + The Mechanics. Genesis and their associated solo projects have accumulated a remarkable and undiminished series of accomplishments over the years, and have collectively amassed an incredible fourteen chart-topping albums as well as over two dozen more which reached the Top 10. In total, Genesis and the members’ related solo projects have sold more than 300 million albums worldwide. Chronologically ordered, R-Kive features the Genesis’s biggest hits including ‘Invisible Touch’, ‘Turn It On Again’, ‘Land of Confusion’ and ‘I Can’t Dance’. Along the way it also visits Mike + The Mechanics’ classics ‘The Living Years’ and ‘Over My Shoulder’, Collins’s ‘In The Air Tonight’ and his Philip Bailey duet ‘Easy Lover’, and Peter Gabriel’s ‘Solsbury Hill’ and ‘Biko’.

I have no idea if this is what the announcement will be, or if it's unrelated. We'll see....

I think they have reached a point in their lives/career where bringing in Hackett for new music will at least shake it up more than a new logo---but sadly--- I doubt it will happen

I would hope the news is more exciting than this. To the hardcore Genesis fans, this would mean almost nothing, as we already have all of this music on the original albums. A career retrospective is less than exciting, unless it were to include a whole lot of previously unreleased material.

Lol--so true---which makes me think this is the cover for the new thingy listed on AMazon---if I wanted to be an optimist (and with my fav groups ,doing what  I want like touring with Hackett--- that's pretty futile) Maybe putting out a CD with all the original guys could lead to a tour with all of them? Doubt it ---without hope you cannot start the day.Wink

That's what I get from it too.

Also meaning that if they tour, the music they play will probably be from the 80's. I probably wouldn't be able to afford tickets anyway...

Bring back Gabriel and let him do the artwork.

Anderson-Ponty Band has a very cool logo, and the snippets of music they have released are impressive!  And, they reached their Kickstarter goal!  Check out the sound clips.

Seriously, I'm going to be so irritatied if this is another compilation release.

I would absolutely love either new music or a tour.  I loved Invisible Touch and We Can't Dance, I get it, those albums really aren't prog, but I love them nonetheless.  Bring on the new music . . .
