Another obscurity from underrated 80's of American prog; besides the band Nick-Nack residing in New York there isn't much other info about them at the moment and their only album 'Albion' from 1982. Some thoughts on possible genre suggestion are appreciated (heavy/xover/eclectic?), the description of their sound in my opinion is some kind of mixture of heavy rock made a bit accessible with female vocals on the front, but they have a very playful keyboardist I think, it might be just me when something about him reminded me of Manfred Mann. Rym has album info (link).

Great find
Nick-Nack would be a perfect candidate for PA' Crossover Prog section (imo). |

Pretty dreadful vocals (shrill and piercing, though I reckon this is more a problem with the actual recording than the lady herself) - and that's coming from someone who loves female fronted stuff as a rule! Musically it sounds closest to Crossover Prog to me too. Certainly not Heavy Prog (though there are plenty of hard rock influences in the music), nor Eclectic to my ears. Yes - I'd be tempted to drop this one straight into Crossover's team thread.

I agree 100% that it needs to be remastered. Edited by Svetonio - August 29 2014 at 11:22 |

Aside from the vocals, it reminds me somewhat of the first Utopia album.
