Hey Nogbad, sorry for not including 5UU's, TP and other RIO bands that might have had an album out that year.

No problem, I know I'm in a niche within a niche
Trey Gunn is pretty much mainstream prog & is a monster

First vote for Kansas. Other contenders: Flower Kings, Transatlantic, IQ, Spock's Beard, and King Crimson.

Tied between GY!BE and Kid A. Voted for Godspeed if only to try to otherthrow Porcupine Tree's weak offering here. In these modern prog polls PT always seem to win by default.

My favourite is Fates Warning's Disconnect but from the list Spock's Beard followed closely by Porcupine Tree.

I went with Radiohead's Kid A, because that was huge for me. I have to admit though that I've worn out Radiohead (like I wore out Floyd) - I'll always love it and hold it up as brilliant, but I'm not sure I can listen to it with fresh ears and appreciation anymore. Just heard it way too much...
If Kid A weren't on here and I went with a pure prog album (I love Radiohead, but it's on the far fringes of prog, imo), it would be the Flower Kings's Space Revolver.

Want to give a particular shout out to Birdsongs of the Mesozoic - Petrophonics. Wonderful album!
Also love: Radiohead - Kid A echolyn - Cowboy Poems Free IQ - The Seventh House Enchant - Juggling 9 or Dropping 10 Porcupine Tree - Lightbulb Sun
But I must vote for the brilliant "skinny fists"!

I voted for Space Revolver although I could have just as easily voted for Lightbulb Sun. I suppose I really only voted for TFK because they only had three votes. :)
