Supper's Ready, but Tarkus is also a 5-star song in my book.

Supper's Ready no doubt about it, but this isn't to discredit Tarkus. I think a lot of this song.

Tough call.

Going with SR

Warning: Listening to jazz excessively can cause a laxative effect.

Both fairly over rated. I'd say Supper has the edge
All I like is prog related bands beginning late 60's/early 70's. Their music from 1968 - 83 has the composition and sound which will never be beaten. Perfect blend of jazz, classical, folk and rock.

Are apples better than oranges, is Bach better than Mozart?

Really it is not like sports where you have a score to tell you who won the game, or stats that you can say show who is better.

If I have to say, It would be Supper time, but that is really based on the power it has live, which seems to be supernatural.

Supper's Ready for me. This song flows wonderfully from beginning to end, and every part of it is really great. Tarkus does have some really awsome parts too... but there are a few bits that just ruin it (the mass part, particularly).

Tarkus is right up there with Close to the Edge as my personal ideal of a prog-epic.  Every other prog epic I've heard since then has had to match up to it.  Its greatness has been equalled, but not quite surpassed.

And then there's Supper's Ready. A real knockout track. Almost frighteningly good. And yet, atop the crowd, Tarkus remains firmly and proudly the victor.

So Tarkus.

I just listened to Tarkus.  It's great, but I guess it's not THAT great.  But my vote still stands, a little more precariously this time.

I'm not really a huge fan of either track.
