Seconded. Love his bassline on Pilgrim's Progress and his solo on Melange on the Greenslade albums.

I guess it's his laid back approach to 'performance' that often causes him to be slightly overlooked. He was never centre-stage in Can, but a lot of the flow and groove came from his collab with Jaki. In my mind he is one of the posterboys for 'musicians who are so into the music as a whole that they tend to forget about showing off'.

Francis Moze

Fantastic on Magma's two first albums and Gong's Flying Teapot (+ Pierre Morlen's Gong, which I admittedly don't listen to very often)

Glenn Cornick.

When he rides, my fears subside.
For darkness turns once more to light.
Through the skies, his white horse flies.
To find a land beyond the night.

I voted for Nick Beggs. I don't know that any of them are actually underrated. Tony Banks, for instance, singled Nick Beggs out for special praise once in an interview. If underrated simply means "not immediately thought of", how about Glyn Havard?

Hard not go wth Pete T from Marillion. He's been quietly carrying the Squire/Camp bass thing  forward for years without sounding the least bit dated.  A hard trick to pull off with that style of bass playing.

In the Internet forum lingo: the word underrated is typically used to denote something/someone the poster values more than the rest of the members do. Equally, overrated means something that the poster doesn't like, at least not as much as the rest of the forum folks do.

Jon Camp had some crazy bass riffs that I've been enjoying immensely as of late.

Tony is in my top 10 all-time, stunning technique. Tongue
