Time for another suggestion of mine to get refused Cool

This may sound strange, but I think Deadmau5 should be on this site at least in prog related.

Why?

If you just have seen him compared to talent-less Dubstep musicians, don't judge him based on that. He isn't anything like that he is a true experimental electronic artist. Even though he mostly only got popular for the song 'Ghost 'N' Stuff' that song doesn't show his true music. Tongue

Yes, his albums 'Random Album Title', 'For Lack of a Better Name', and '4x4=12' have a base in progressive house, but his early albums and his two recent albums are very experimental Smile

Would you like for me to copy-paste some posts made by Sheavy and myself in The Orb thread?

I saw the posts, but this isn't a similar artist. Tongue

Anyways, I think the description for prog electronic should be much more clear about what exactly it means. For me it seems no more bands can be added to that section. If it's only included due to Krautrock bands, then I think that should be specified. Confused

Sorry for double-post, but did you happen to listen to some of the samples? Tongue

There should be an "Electronic Not Accepted In Progressive Electronic" sub-genre LOL

May as well be, since I can't get any clear answer to what prog electronic exactly is according to the site. Seeing as The Orb perfectly fit the description but still isn't excepted Dead

OKay, I'll attempt to 'deconstruct' the given Progressive Electronic definition and why such artists like Deadmau5 and The Orb don't fit the definition. I'm not the one who wrote it (Philippe did) so there is a chance he might disagree with things i'm about to say, but I think not.

About the ending summation

"To sum up things, the progressive electronic subgenre is dedicated to intricate, moving, cerebral, intrusive electronic experiences that get involved in "kosmische", dark ambient, (post) industrial, droning, surreal or impressionist soundscapes territories."

Before I was a team member I suggested loads of outfits for Prog Electronic and have used this blurb on more than one occasion (it must have surely sent Guldbamsen running for high blood pressure pills). This blurb doesn't apply to every genre of electronic music. It applies to what has been defined as acceptable to Prog Electronic in the preceding paragraphs.

The Orb and Deadmau5's respective genres are not to be found anywhere in those paragraphs. They don't "get involved in" Berlin School, Industrial, or Drone/Ambient/Abstract Soundscapes.

Here are some samples from bands named in the definition and the type of Electronic that would be accepted.
