Merging the genres of Folk and Power Metal with the virtuosity and technique of Progressive Rock while occasionally dipping... into the ferocity of Black Metal, Eikthyrnir creates a journey for the listener through intricate and inspired songwriting from a vast range of influences. The Band's debut release Under the Old Oak Tree is a prime example of genre crossing, energetic, and beautiful music.

released 09 September 2014

personnel:

Nathan Beird: Lead Vocals, Bass Guitar, Mouth Harp
Amos Hart: Vocals, Keyboards, Accordion, and Acoustic Guitars
Brian Sebert: Guitars
Chris Cozzi: Guitars
Ashley Grygienc: Flute
Alice Kraynak: Violin
Kai Movagh: Drums and Percussion

LOL! I listened to this one just yesterday, and decided it was too close to Melodic Power Metal in the main to get approval here...but I could be completely wrong, as so often before! Tongue Not over keen on the vocals, I must say: Bit too theatrical for me really (with a few growls dotted about here and there). Oh well, let's wait for Thanos to give a proper verdict on it! Embarrassed

Yea there's some Power Metal also but they are very versatile in their style - there's also a lot of Prog Folk imo, especially in that 25-min. long epic track Fortress of The King.
Well, we will see what Thanos will say. Smile

Yes, it's a quite varied album in style. Would have been an enjoyable listen for me if it weren't for the vocals...I just couldn't grow to like them at all, I'm afraid - but that doesn't detract from the music, which really was pretty well executed throughout. Smile

An instrumental only version of the album would be just great, isn't?

Interesting listen, on charts. For me it's a NO due to demo production sound but they have potential.
