I'm not intending to pass judgement on his case, but I am puzzled by his actions.

If you lived in a house with your girlfriend and you woke up in the night and heard a noise from the bathroom, what's the first thing you would do -

a) turn over and check if your girlfriend is there or not? or
b) get your gun and shoot through the door?

My feeling is that most people would first assume the person in the bathroom was a member of their family. You could always call out if in doubt and why would a burglar lock himself in the bathroom anyway?

It was a bizarre course of action to take, but I still don't think he killed her deliberately. I other words the verdict was probably sound. If they can't prove intent, they can't convict on a charge of murder.

I don't think it was murder either (after all, you can't be sure of killing someone through a locked door) but certainly manslaughter. His defence just doesn't hold up. I'm always hearing noises in the house because my sons are normally up later than me but my first thought is not "oh, there must be a burglar in the house". Unless I'm alone of course.

I personally have no doubts whatsoever this was an execution. Neighbours heard Pistorius shooting and that girl shouting until she lost conciousness. His defender explained it could be as well Pistorius shouting. Rubbish. It was an execution and he actually quite got away with it. Pistorius will be free in two years in exchange for good behaviour and will drive his whitey BMW with a gun in glove box again. Being a hero pays off.

I am in the camp that there was not enough evidence to convict him for murder.
For sure the whole scenario stinks and makes no sense as to his actions...The problem is everything else after that is "he said, he said.." since nobody else is alive to contradict him.

People next door don't carry much weight because defense can always show doubt in what they actually might have possibly heard in the middle of the night.

It does seem he has a problem with firearms. What I do not know is what is the reason for killing her?
