Pick your favorite of these highly rated Zappas from 1975 to 1979. Good luck.

I'll pick Sleep Dirt because of The Ocean is the Ultimate Solution.

5 great albums in this list. I'll probably have to go with Sleep Dirt, mainly for Filthy Habits.
Studio Tan would be my next pick.

Studio Tan if only for the fact that I've never heard One Size Fits All.

One Size Fits All.

For darkness turns once more to light.
Through the skies, his white horse flies.

OSFA kicks so much ass it ain't even funny.  Probably my favorite of Frank's regular studio albums.

^Yes, obviously I had to pair it down with just a few others. It is awesome.

Don't suppose we could include Lather as this was the initial idea for Orchestral Favorites, Studio Tan, Sleep Dirt and In New York?

Yes, The Ocean Is The Ultimate Solution - stunning piece of music.

^ I really love all those 4 albums that were initially to make up the Lather set. The Orchestral version of Prunes is such a cool rendition.

^ There's an unofficial version of Orchestral outtake, which dare I say, seems at least as good as the finished album ( a lot like everything FZ). Oh, as for Lather the new version of Lather I think has some tracks like the DJ chat and a few other relatively non-essential but enjoyable moments included on the 1997 issue but not the new version.

Lather imvho is the one stop shop for anything Zappa. It has a lot of everything. That jam over the Whole Lotta Love riff (Duck Duck Doo) is fun.... but Ocean... ultimate indeed. You'd have to find a Watermelon In Easter Hay for equivalent lyrical instrumental eloquence.
