Thanks for the post, Jim!

Ha, plenty of typical great Ozzy comments in there too!

Did you hear the most recent studio album? I forgot to buy it when it came out, and simply kind of forgot about it. I really should go out and snap up a copy.

Hi Michael!!

I never bought 13.  I would be curious to know.  For all of you who jumped on 13 and liked it straightaway, how has the album held up for you?  Do you consider it an essential Sab title?

Not essential in any way, and not as good as their first 10 albums IMO, but definitely a good album. But if you're a fan then how can you not have a BS album with Ozzy?

Man, 13 is a breath of fresh air for me. Best album since Sabbath Bloody Sabbath I'd say. I did get the 2LP version, and folks keep telling me that a non-vinyl track, Methademic, is the best tune on the album.....
..........I think it's a very respectable album, and though the former Rage drummer is close, I do miss Bill W's magic touch.....

Great news! Sabbath are one of my all time favourite bands. I was suspecting they may go for another album and tour. The whole 13 period was so well recieved and they all seemed to enjoy it, I think the only factor that was going to come in the way of doing it again was Tony's health.

I was lucky enough to be at their comeback gig in Birmingham a couple of years back. It was a small 3000 capacity venue, a warm up gig for their headline slot at Donnington. Without a doubt the best gig I've ever been to!

I think 13 is a great album for what it is. Still stands up today. I'd have liked a looser production and a different choice in drummer but the song writing from Tony was top notch.

Would be nice to see them work with someone other than Rick Rubin this time around to avoid a 13 'Part 2'

Well, I'm not the greatest Sabbath fan out there... actually, I just started getting some of their albums last year. And, as far as sound quality, I liked the new album (which I just got last weekend) better than their 70's stuff... of course, the songwriting is another matter. You won't have something as great as Black Sabbath, NIB, Paranoid, War Pigs, Iron Man, Children of the Grave, Sabra Cadabra, Heaven and Hell... but at least the album is very consistent, which is not something I can say about the 70's albums I've heard. However, I've only heard this new album once, so I'll have to check it out better to form an adequate opinion.

Let's just say it could have been better with Bill Ward on drums that gave Sabbath a jazzy swing rhythm that made their classic 70's material so well done.

As far as farewell, with so many bands saying farewell, then unretiring like Ozzy did, I will believe it when I see it

I think that after absorbing 13 for a while now I like it a lot.I think if you are a fan if early Sabbath you won't be disappointed .While not as great as those 70's classics it still is a very enjoyable listen. Also nice to have some
new material in the same win as those early albums.
I would love to see them give another studio album a try.
