Stella.

The rest are not that exciting too me (with the exception of some Greg Lake), at least from a vocals standpoint.

Greg Lake although he's far and away the most notable in the bunch (as has already been reflected upon for the thread).

Greg Lake.

When he rides, my fears subside.
For darkness turns once more to light.
Through the skies, his white horse flies.
To find a land beyond the night.

Really, man. The guy only sings as well as he did back in '72. Ain't many who can touch him, "warbling"-wise.

The Magma vocalist is perfect for the band - I can't think of any other band where Vender's vocals would mesh.

The only Greg Lake vocals I've ever dug are those on the Court album, and the Court album is far from my favorite Crimso record.
I like to feel the suspense when you're certain you know I am there.....

True.
An old schoolmate of mine who moved  'over't border' ,  swears  he used to deliver his parents milk in Lancashire. The joke was that he wanted to be a postman....

Got to go against the flow and choose Daevid Allen.

Some nice work on Angel's Egg and You, and could really articulate kookiness. The whole Radio Gnome trilogy wouldn't amount to much without him doing vocals.

out of  the other choices, as Greg Lake was considered one of the best vocalists prog or not of that era. I'd have to go with Richard Wright.  I always did enjoy his voice and the songs he sang on.

Though times have changed on this forum, it wasn't long ago you'd find anything relating to the golden child himself winning any poll he was in.  My favorite poll from years ago was the time the PT fanclub voted the Steve Wilson 'bathroom sessions' over Welcome Back My Friends for best live performance Ouch

The best prog vocalists are those who hardly ever get a mention. Banco's Francesco Di Giacomo (RIP) and Osanna's Lino Vairetti, to name but two, wiped the floor with most celebrated English-language vocalists. In any case, the new generation of prog bands can boast of some true vocal powerhouses, both male and female. For instance, Discipline's Matthew Parmenter is an incredible singer, as well as a very gifted musician and composer.

Stella Vander for me.

Sounds like an interesting poll, I'd add Stratos to those 2 darling and then usual English suspects/vocalists.  Lake, Sinclair, Heyward and see who'd win that poll.

Perhaps a few others  like Blasquiz and Décamps and see who came out on top.

Of those, probably Richard.  A warm and unassuming presence.

my favorite vocalists apart from this poll are the deeply moving Aldo Tagliapietra from Le Orme, and the wonderful, golden voice of Helmut Koellen of Triumvirat.
