I would say "f**k off, Get Free, We Pour Light on Everything" by ASMZ.

Seven Impale may have just edged into my top spot for the year. Sax has always been a sound that challenges my ear, so when a band pulls it off they get extra points from me.

I'd say Kayo Dot's Coffins on Io. A pretty unusual album for KD, more accessible in a way, but still very serious and experimental. It mixes together styles/aesthetics from the past, particularly the 70s/80s, but still sounds fresh. The first and last tracks are among my favorite tracks by them, really soulful.

Does anyone have any releases they're looking forward to in December? I've got nothing.

At this point my 'album of the year' has been narrowed down to three choices. IQ and Perfect Beings are currently in the running, but the current leader is
Motorpsycho - Behind the Sun

I don't have an unnatural obsession with Disney Princesses, I have a fourteen year old daughter and coping mechanisms.

Phideaux's Infernal perhaps?
Right now, for me, it's between Kayo Dot - Coffins on Io and Fire! Orchestra - Enter.......but I'm obviously forgetting about a few.

I think you've got your wires crossed, that one's surely slated for December 2024, not 2014!

Great choice!
Same for me: Never liked saxes much but Seven Impale have integrated them in a way that is sublimely perfect! Way better than VDGG (IMHO)!!!

While far from my pick for best album of the year, I don't despise this album like a lot of people do. I think it's better than Fly from Here.

Discipline's This One's For England is the best 2014 record I've heard all year by far, but there's no 2014 material on it.
