It's between 'Present for Nancy' and 'Spiral Staircase' for me (the 2 i've heard) and can't say I prefer one over the other but yes, yes, yes, I love Supersister!

I worship fuzz-organ, therefore, I worship SUPERSISTER, Caravan, Soft Machine, ANYTHING Dave Stewart touches (bar Stewart/Gaskin things - pretty cool, but better if he played Hammond through a fuzz-box.....)...... and precious few others......... Stips contorted his Farfisa to create a sound which makes my 'sonic interpretation' buzz, like a drug, really........... I really don't know why some modern acts don't utilise this magical, fuzzy sound within their material.....few have, but never authentic enough................

Ok I went for Iskander but that was pretty tough, it's a little different from the others maybe their most "serious" album but still quirky enough to be a Supersister album, plus Mariano's sax is priceless!! Highly recommended.
And I'm very happy to see that this is a very close competition which only goes to show what an incredible band they were!

I was going to mention my surprise at how close all these albums are, I really am surprised. Iksander was my choice by the way.

Love their humour as well. Might have to give Iskander a spin - a bit of a departure from Canter-buggers, but still very classy. Also, the album Superstarshine Vol 3 has some essential tracks, like the eccentric 'Wow!' epic.

^ That's right Tom, it is a good album.
And btw this would be a good place to mention that R.J Stips continued with a different band name called Transister and recorded only one album in 79' called Zig Zag. It doesn't really sound like Supersister but still there's a connection. The production is much brighter and slick but the playing is phenomenal and complex, the album is very very Zappa inspired and it is really clever, very much recommended to Zappa fans.
Check it out...

^ Cool, thanks Sagi. There's also a band with Stips (and members from Golden Earring) called 'Stars And Stips', they have 1 album released in '74 which doesn't sound anything like SUPERSISTER, and Stips just uses piano and an ARP synth. I should do a review of it.......

Wow, only thought they did the first 2. I'll have to check out the others some time.

For the completist, this one is very interesting, mix of live and unreleased tracks. You won't be disappointed. As always, with Supersister, the music smiles.
