Sex Pistols vs. Minor Threat
Perhaps the first punk band in the UK, Sex Pistols have become a symbol for punk on the whole. They only released one full-length studio album (Nevermind the Bollocks, Here's the Sex Pistols), but it stands as one of the giants in punk rock.
One of the most influential hardcore punk bands, Minor Threat has also become a symbol for punk as a whole, especially with singer Ian McKaye creating his own label, distributing his own music, and promoting his own music, thus creating the DIY ethic by which many punk bands subsequent lived. They also only released one full-length studio album (Out of Step), which also stands as a monument in punk rock.

I've been a Sex Pistols fan since I was 9. Never Mind the Bollocks is a 10/10 album for me. Minor Threat I've been a fan of for less than a year. Their complete discography is great but not worthy of 10 stars.

Minor Threat, easily. Their intensity and passion are hard to match. The Sex Pistols did have a great album, but the whole band concept was basically a put-on, whereas Threat were serious and committed. Louder, faster, and more musical.

Minor Threat.
Punk & hardcore bands covering classic tunes was always gimmiky to me, but Minor Threat's rendition of Steppin' Stone was just so raucous and wild that I still love it to this day. I got kinda burnt on the Sex Pistols years ago.

Minor Threat. They're a very dry, not so liked band to my ears, but the Pistols are ruined by how over the top Lyndon whined their lyrics. Very much a shame.

Sex Pistols, mainly for their legacy though. The production on their album is brilliant though, still stands up. Why could Chris Thomas do that while he was with Procol
