I'll never understand the hate for Big Generator. Maybe you had to be there. Is there anyone here who doesn't like it who was a teen(like me)when it first came out? I remember the excitement surrounding it at the time and it was such a big deal and then when they played in my area following the release I got to see Yes for the first time. Great times!

I like the album a lot as well. I was in my early 20s when I listened to it for the first time and I did not have a problem with it. Other Yes albums I was listening to at the time were Time & a Word, The Yes Album, TftTO, 90125 and a Yes compilation. I enjoyed the album instantly.

I've heard much worse things from Yes later (Tormato, Union, Open Your Eyes to name a few).

I think it's a very interesting album because there is such a juxtaposition in some of the songs. You have dancey tracks like "rhythm of love" then pure pop like "love will find a way" then ethereal almost Pink Floydish sounding songs like "final eyes" and "shoot high aim low" then more prog songs like "I'm running" and also the aforementioned "final eyes" and then semi metal like "almost like love" and the title track. I guess some people just can't handle the diversity of it.

I don't understand why Beat or Abacab are on here.

I've never really taken to The Final Cut, although I can understand people who do like it. Don't know why Big Generator gets such a bad press. Not as good as 90125 for sure, but some good songs overall, even if it fades noticeably towards the end of side 2. Still way better than Open Your Eyes!

About Big Generator, for me, it's not that I hate it... it's only... lame, I guess. It just does nothing for me. And it's not a matter of being there or waiting for an album and being disappointed, for I got all my albums from them in the 00's, and neither did I know this one was supposed to bad, or their pop era was supposed to be frowned upon (actually, I was just getting into prog). The songs just didn't do much for me... in general, Rabin songs don't do much for me. However, one of the songs I do like from Big Generator is perhaps the most overlooked from it, "Holy Lamb" (the other one I like from it is "Shoot High").

What, no "Love Beach?"  LOL

"Big Generator" for me, although I don't like most of these, except for "Beat" which is a remarkable work.

"Sartori in Tangier" alone is worth the price of admission.

IMHO anyway.

Floyd's TFC is the only of the list that I do like . and AMLOR is by fear the weakest Floyd Gilmour album, not TFC

I like The Final Cut but all the rest here are pretty dismal with that Camel LP being the true turd.

Actually, I rank these two albums about the same. They have their strengths and weakneses accordingly to Waters or Gilmour's dominance on each album. They both are at least good as a whole listening experience, and both have some (very few) outstanding tracks, though many other tracks from the albums end up being rather forgettable if listened out of the album.

I use they/them pronouns (feel free to ask me about this!)

Check out my music on my bandcamp!

Call me ignorant but I haven't heard the Rush and the Yes album because I'm just not interested (I don't know Love Beach either, by the way, and I doubt that I ever will). Therefore I can't vote for them here. I find much of The Final Cut annoying to hear but I think that it has a certain quality that maybe even still waits to be discovered by me so no vote for that one either. I find the odd good moment in Abacab, Single Factor and Under Wraps; these come from the period when I got into music and compared to much of the music around at the time they were still good albums. I have some fond memories there. I wouldn't rate these highly these days but they aren't stinkers either and so I won't vote against either of them.
Finally I rated Beat 5 stars; I can see why it's not everyone's cup of tea but I totally don't get why some prog fans seem to really hate this album. Open your ears and you find a masterpiece.
So no vote but a nice selection for a poll.
