It is with sorrow, and a heavy head, that I report to Prog Archives, the news I just read, but that is almost two years old, the death of guitar master Eddy Marron on February 6th, 2013.
In the progressive rock world, Marron is known for his music in the visionary and ahead of it's time outfit known as "Vita Nova", who released one lp in Austria in 1971, and of course, jazz-rock/krautrock legends Dzyan who released two brilliant and stellar records with Marron on Bellaphon known as "Time Machine" and "Electric Silence", in 1973 and 1974, respectively. In the 2000s an archival recording of Dzyan was released called "Mandala" featuring Eddy. Marron was also involved with the German jazz-rock band "Missus Beastly".
After Dzyan split, there was the even more obscure, but no less important two albums by "Giger Lenz Marron" known as "Beyond" and "Where The Hammer Hangs".
In 1980, Mr. Marron released a solo album called "Por Marco" that is composed of some lighter jazz flavoured music soulful and searching in it's technique and feeling.
Later, Professor Eddy Marron taught at a University in the Netherlands. I had the pleasure of conversing with the man by phone a couple of times in the 2000s.
Words cannot properly convey the deep reverence and respect I have for this guitarist, who was equally at home with a sitar or zaz.
Eddy Marron, your music lives on!

That's quite a shame. Even though I'm not a guitarist, he was respected by me and others I know, so I too feel sadness for his loss. Unhappy

RIP
Dig me...But don't...Bury me
I'm running still, I shall until, one day, I hope that I'll arrive
Warning: Listening to jazz excessively can cause a laxative effect.

I can tell by just the first few minutes of "Beyond" by GLM, that I'll have a lot of good stuff ahead for me.

I only know his work from the wonderful Vita Nova album and it's always sad to read of one's passing.
A belated RIP, Eddy.

Anyone know if this album's lyrics, which are in Latin, have a translation anywhere?
There are latin translation programs around, so just the original would be fine.

I checked on the net, nothing so far. I also looked up the name of the person that wrote the lyrics, Sylvester Levay's brother in law Adalbert Hayduk, but I don't think I see reference to him. If anything turns up, I will let you know.

There is a totally insane song on the vinyl re-issue called Lacrimosa. Makes the album even more
special. I really need the Dzyan albums......
