Swans is magical. A dark magic, but holy cow it is just entrancing.
Crushed like a rose in the riverflow.

Swans is music to slit your wrists to.  I will always dread it when it comes in in rotation....
Released date are often when it it impacted you but recorded dates are when it really happened...

That is some of the appeal, for what it's worth.

I agree, that's what I like about them.

Yeah, it kinda is getting old. It reminds me of Ozzy being accused of wanting his fans to commit suicide. His reply: if his fans all killed themselves who would buy his next album?LOL

Since I voted for IQ as #1 in the Collab zone, there is no point in voting for anyone else here.

IQ, The Road of Bones.

When he rides, my fears subside.
For darkness turns once more to light.
Through the skies, his white horse flies.
To find a land beyond the night.

I've now ordered Seven Impale's album but note the love that Swans are getting. Also curious about that one and will pick up at some point.

I can't vote yet but it would be Knifeworld's The Unravelling.

The ones I've heard I rank in this order:

1. Coffins on Io
2. Behind the Sun
3. The Unravelling
4. City of the Sun
5. To Be Kind
6. The Endless River
7. Pale Communion

Re: Swans, I haven't listened to it but beware of Slarti's comments, it's not for everybody so check before buying.

In the meantime I just received the Seven Impale's one and on first listen it's good, lots of VDGG influences, perhaps sometimes getting a bit too freaky for the sake of it for my taste but we will see, very possibly it will sink in with more listens, looks promising.

Exactly my thoughts. At times brilliant, but also quite messy. A very promising band. I was not surprised by its high ranking in the list.

To Be Kind is one of those perfect albums that flows so perfect that you don't even know what you're listening to until you're done and then you said "WTH did I just listen to?" because you were so entranced in the music.
There is no dark side in the moon, really... Matter of fact, it's all dark...
