I like Manfred Mann's Earthband. I used to listen to them when i was 13-14 years old.

The Grateful Dead.....a truly progressive rock band.  Maybe not "prog" in the mellotron and flowing Wakeman cape sense of the word, but definitely progressive. 
I like to feel the suspense when you're certain you know I am there.....

In this middle period, all the way to the album that had the Springsteen song. I still like Glorified Magnified a lot also!
