Pekka Pohjola
Finch (what an awesome band)
So... any instrumental bands that are on THIS LEVEL of awesomeness?

Good taste--  and hell yeah there are instrumental bands on that level, though not a whole lot.   Dice (Swedish) are largely instrumental with some background vocals, Iceberg (Spain), Morgan (British, some singing), Quiet Sun (British), Cartoon (US), Polyphony (US), and for heavy stuff 1980 .

I would suggest:
Leb i sol (mostly instrumental)
Den za den
Kornet

And also (already mentioned):
Iceberg
Fermata
RTF
Mahavishnu Orchestra
