Both all the way! Lord and Blackmore are both legends and Highway Star is one of the best showcases of both their talents.

From an historical perspective, if you were a young rock guitarist in the 70s, you tried Blackmore's solo. It was a rite of passage. I would still place it among the top ten solos of all-time for sheer burn factor.

to take the place of the mud shark in your mythology...

If dear Jon Lord wasn't in DP, I'd probably not bother with them. I used to have around 15 LP's of theirs, nowadays I only have 4 - Shades Of, Taliesyn, S/T and Made In Japan.

Although I'm not a fan of the band I am a guitarist.
So, for that reason I voted for Blackmore.

Both .....I'm not  big fan of DP in general.....
but I had a good laugh the other day because I watch 'Ash vs Evil Dead' on cable tv and Ash played by Bruce Campbell was cranking that song in his car on the way down the highway after killing monsters.
Big smile

I don't remember any witches in it, but I voted for Ritchie - that harmony guitar solo is just brilliant (and I'm talking about the studio version obviously).

Jon Lord's solo is great as well.

I love the neo-classical sound on both solos.

Watched the entire Season 1 the other week. ELP's Knife-Edge is used in the credits of that episode. Lots of great classic rock tracks throughout the series.
