 Topic: Vote for your favorite movie by François Truffaut

Friede and I decided to do a few polls of movies from some of our favorite directors. there will be a lot none-American directors among them.
I will start with François Truffaut. the movie titles are given in English translation. if you don't know all movies vote for the best you know

Great idea for this series of polls I won't answer now, because I need to see the movie title in French - though I can guess them more or less, since you posted them +/- chronologically

Very difficult to choose just one. I went with Fahrenheit 451 for many reasons, but I would have liked to have included The Man Who Loved Women.

I gave the English titles because the English language is the common
denominator here. but here are the French titles in the same order:
Les Quatre Cents Coups
Tirez sur le pianiste
Jules et Jim
La Peau douce
Fahrenheit 451
La Mariée était en noir
Baisers volés
La sirène du Mississipi
L'Enfant sauvage
Domicile conjugal
Les Deux anglaises et le continent
Une belle fille comme moi
La Nuit américaine
L'Histoire d'Adèle H.
L'Argent de poche
L'Homme qui aimait les femmes
La Chambre verte
L'Amour en fuite
Le Dernier métro
La Femme d'à côté

My vote would go to "Une belle fille comme moi" (Such a Gorgeous Kid like
Me). Probably a strange choice, but I have a special thing
for this movie. Unfortunately I can't vote anymore since Jean and I share the same IP-address.

400 Blows, which I saw as a kid for the first time and felt a strong sympathy for the misfortunate child character.
Just thinking of the final sequence on the desolate shore (backed by music I remember well) gives me goosebumps.
PS. Fahrenheit 451 - the novel by RAY BRADBURY - had been my dearest book since the age of 13 or so, long before I finally saw the movie. Unfortunately it didn't live up to my expectations...

Untimately l'Homme Quii Aimait les Femmes ,while not his best, is probably the one best fondly remembered by the French public

I've only seen The 400 Blows and Jules & Jim so far. If I had to vote now though I'd vote for The 400 Blows.

The scene in Day for Night where they try to persuade the cat to walk across the screen earns it my vote. I can't even think of it without laughing.

The funniest movie by Truffaut is "Such a Gorgeous Kid Like Me". After seeing that movie I can't hear the sound of a racing car without grinning anymore.

Fahrenheit 451 is one of my favourite adaptations of a novel I like. I adore the film. The Bride Wore Black, The 400 Blows and Jules et Jim are other particular favourites. I haven't seen most of these. Of the Cahiers du Cinema group, I think Godard was my favourite over all.
Well known factoid, Truffaut was the Frenchman in Close Encounters of the Third Kind.
