I disagree Even Riverside's last two albums are more complex than what Katatonia ever did. |

You are entitled to disagree. While I enjoy Love, Fear and the Time Machine, there is nothing that complex about it. It has some nice basslines and excellent vocals, but is rather less complex than just about any Katatonia album. |

The fact that Katatonia has not yet been included on this site even after each album becomes more complex than the last just blows me away. Arguably the most atmospheric and layered music out there - just listen to "Shifts" from the new album. I bet they have more Prog followers than Metalheads these days. Put them on the site so we can discuss their excellent Progressive Metal or even Prog Related discography. That is all!

Well rumour says the new album is more progressive inclined, but someone needs to formally ask the PM team if they want to evaluate Katatonia Again. The rules say that they can only be evaluated on the grounds of the new album, as they´ve been rejected before on the basis of everything released before that album. Agree or not, that´s the rules.

Don't worry, if it is indeed Prog Metal no one will need to ask the team, Katatonia has an undercover agent in place already |

Viva Emptiness is also prog-metal/rock masterpiece, even the new album The Fall Of Hearts is easely excellent in a progressive way, I would like to see Katatonia on this site ...

This subject is a bit more debatable now because of the new album, which takes much more influence from progressive rock. Then again, they already started gravitating toward that direction with Dead End Kings, so I suppose we'll see

I think Katatonia plays Prog Metal as well as Anathema, for example.
I really don't understand why they aren't considered as prog players... We accept math rock as prog and not this GREAT band? Please, listen to their last album (The fall of hearts) and judge...

Agree with everyone else - VERY surprised Katatonia aren't already in the ranks.

I've seen Katatonia a few times. but I don't have any of their albums. I know I prefer the clean vocals. So which clean vocal album do you think is their best?

I think only their first two have harsh vocals.
Anyway, start with their latest, The Fall of Hearts. |

IMO a 3 way tie between their latest 3 albums. The Fall of Hearts, Dead End Kings, and Night is the New Day. Phenomenal albums. I consider them to have prog elements.

Just for the record, Katatonia were actually added to the site some time during the summer of 2016 with five 'yes' votes and one 'abstain' from the six-man prog metal team, but no announcement was made in this thread at the time. You can find their page at http://www.progarchives.com/artist.asp?id=9887.
