You're right , ..Lake did the other tracks but for some reason Haskell did that one.......odd....but even odder is that on the Boxset that came out in '91, Frame By Frame....Fripp remixed the track with vocals by Belew. I have never been a fan of his voice though his guitar work is interesting. |
I believe I read in an interview that Fripp said he had Belew redo the vox for the Frame by Frame box set because of ongoing legal issues with Haskell, or that he didn't want Haskell to receive any further payments, or they weren't on speaking terms or something along those lines. Not only that, on the Frame by Frame box Haskell's bass parts on Bolero from Lizard were replaced with Tony Levin...ouch.
Anyway, I'm with you on Belew...interesting guitar work but his vocals turn me off...as far as Cadence, Lake's version is OK but I prefer much Haskell's...

Wow...all that to spite Mr Haskell. The more I read and hear about Fripp's actions over the years the more he seems like a petty self centered individual. It's interesting too since he was heavily into Gurdjieff Fourth Way spiritual work in the past. Apparently he didn't learn anything except how to be a control freak.

What a great band. Hardly a duff track in their whole repertoire.
I'll go with Cat Food. A good fun funky tune.
