Snarky Puppy is a Brooklyn, New York-based instrumental ensemble led by bassist, composer and producer Michael League. Formed in Denton, Texas in 2004, the band features a collective of nearly 40 musicians, referred to as "The Fam" on their recordings and tours. The musicians perform on a variety of instruments including guitars, pianos, keyboards, woodwinds, brass, percussion and strings.
The band's album We Like It Here was performed and recorded live in October 2013 at the artistic compound Kytopia in the city of Utrecht.[6] It was released in February 2014, debuting at #1 on the iTunes Jazz Charts.
On January 26, 2014, Snarky Puppy, along with Lalah Hathaway, won a Grammy Award in the Best R&B Performance category for their rendition of the Brenda Russell song "Something" from Family Dinner - Volume 1.

For me, the album We Like It Here (2014) is one of the best and proggish jazz albums I've ever heard. Just listen to the song Lingus and see for yourself! Featuring genious keyboardist Cory Henry.

They've been suggested a couple of times before and rejected just as many.
Great contemporary jazz band though

Sorry guys. But IMHO they're as prog as Rush, Return To Forever or Steven Wilson... Dear collaborators, just listen to these songs: Lingus and Soro (Afriki). If they're not prog, I believe some bands should be taken off the Archives.

I have a couple of their albums and have seen them live, they are a contemporary jazz band, nothing wrong with that but not prog.

They can't be labeled as a prog band. This is true. But Miles Davis or Hiromi Uehara can't neither. Honestly, what is Kind Of Blue doing in the Top 100? It's a great album, but it's "prog level" is much lower than Snarky Puppy's or even In A Silent Way's. Most prog fans will love Snarky Puppy. It's a great addition to the website.

agreed... and prog fans do enjoy them.

the age of band additions here actually mattering.. or really having any priority have long since passed.

In my time we had scores of bands beating the doors down wanting to be added... today?  Nope.  It doesn't matter.. this site is more the M@X bar and grill for prog fans to chill. Listners today enjoy what they do and care less what this site, or anyone, classifies them as.

Miles is in here for his "In A Silent Way" and "Bitches Brew" which sit squarely at the forefront of Fusion. One of the anomalies of the site is that if you release one album recognized as prog then your whole discography gets in. See Jethro Tull for the same effect. Kind Of Blue has long been recognized as the biggest anomaly on the site. Judging other Jazz albums as Fusion would effectively make this a Jazz/Prog site.
