These days, I really only listen to prog rock, plain and simple. I have found that after sifting through many genres, prog is most definitely my thing. Anyways, there are a few non-prog groups and Lps that I absolutely love, and I wanna find more music like that. I thought I'd make a post on this site because there are many people around these forums that know a helluva lot about music  in general. Any recommendations are appreciated.

Art of Noise - I absolutely love this group. I own just about all their studio LPs. The Seduction of Claude Debussy is in my top ten favorite albums list.

Grace Jones - Slave to the Rhythm - This is a great LP. I like some of Grace Jones work like her Nightclubbing album, but Slave to the Rhythm is a definite go to for me.

Frankie Goes to Hollywood - This has more to do with their song 'Welcome to the Pleasuredome.' Overall, I don't like their work but the first side of their 1st LP is the kind of music I'm Looking for. P.S. I'm noticing a definite Trevor Horn pattern here.

Eurthmics - 1984. Another great LP. I don't like this group all that much but after picking up their 1984 Lp at a thrift store, I was sold.

Simple Minds - Another favorite group. Love most of their LPs, especially their New Gold Dream album.

On the eighties Trevor Horn tip, if you haven't heard Propaganda's album A Secret Wish you definitely should.

KAJAGOOGOO. I'm probably the only one here who digs these guys. A young Nick Beggs is the bassist.

If you dig more melodic songs then check out Tears for Fears, Michael Penn and Crowded House.
This message was brought to you by a proud supporter of the Deep State.

I'd include Buggles.

I was gonna suggest them as well - well their two first albums anyway.

Also:
Lene Lovich - Stateless
Danielle Dax - Pop-Eyes
Kate Bush - The Dreaming
Kraftwerk - Computer World

..and if you're not familiar with early The Cure yet I'd say the #7-collection: Standing on a Beach is a perfect place to start.

+ perhaps a more recent one from Juana Molina? Check out her incredible videos! - genuine art. These songs are from her latest album, but the previous Un Dia is my favorite.
