"Diamonds Are Forever" is in my opinion one of the best "movie songs" ever. The uncertain atmosphere at the beginning is out of this world!
Hard to say about the other nine.
Categories strain, crack and sometimes break, under their burden - step out of the space provided.

"On Her Majesty's Secret Service" and, perhaps, "Licence to Kill" too. Personally I just do not tolerate singer called Adele, but her track for "Skyfall" is alright

a-ha - The Living Daylights (prog?)
Duran Duran - A View to a Kill

The rest I can't really recall, but I remember Live and Let Die (Paul McCartney) being somewhat of prog-epic.

How can it not be Shirley Bassey's Goldfinger for everyone?

I love the swooping strings of "Live And Let Die" as thrilling now as when I first heard them on an ITV showing of the film with the same name.
The only songs I go out of my way to avoid are the songs from"Moonraker","All Time High" and "Skyfall".

hell yeah!

that said... I'd still only have it as #2.

The Spy who loved me.. come on.. it was Carly
Goldfinger
For your eyes only... come on.. it was Sheena
Live and Let Die

big drop off... those are the 4 that stood out for me.

Love James Bond theme songs. As to why not Goldfinger for everyone, which is the most quintessential James Bond song to me but not my favourite, it's just a matter of taste. Much as I like it, it does seem very cheesy to me now. I would have liked Ethel Merman to do a James Bond song. One and two are equal for me -- they are also my favourite all around James Bond soundtrack albums.

1. "We Have All the Time in the World" (as a procrastinator, this gives me great solace. In college this was my theme tune).
2. "You Only Live Twice" (the one who wrote the lyrics was my dad's best man and this was my favourite for a long time)
3. "Nobody Does it Better" (favourite of my wife's too, love this song)
4. "The Man With the Golden Gun"
5. "Skyfall" (Since Radiohead was not chosen for Spectre, this is my fave of the modern ones)
6. "Diamonds are Forever"
7. "Live and Let Die" (liked it more as a kid)
8. ""Goldfinger" (cheesy, as are many Bond themes, but tremendous fun and quintessential James Bond song)
9. "A View to a Kill"
10. "For your Eyes Only" (I prefer Blondie's rejected theme song)

Be fun to do a rejected James Bond themes poll at some time too:

And my choice for the next James Bond songwriters, Bent Knee based on this:

I really like the tune but never been fond of Shirley Bassey's voice - or rather how she uses her voice.
