Your idea was probably fine but how it was worded was not, you come across as one of those individuals that profess prog-rock as being the "one and only almighty choice" LOL. I am not sure that goes too far even on this site, I am not sure how many sub-genres there are listed here but certainly many of them have jazz and classical influence.

If you don't like either of those (I for one am NOT a classical listener), that's fine but you still need to understand the influence. Maybe even respect the fact that some prog was born of jazz and classical.....
