I'm about 2 thirds of the way through the book Cloud Atlas and fully intend to re-watch the movie when I'm done. The book is very good too.

Last night watched the first 2 episodes of the Canal + /Fox production of War of The Worlds. I'm well impressed , they have nailed the drama totally and you almost forget you are watching a sci-fi show at times. Highly recommended but we'll see whether they can keep this up.

The Sky One production Brassic is a lot of fun , watched an episode this morning. Features Jo Gilgun  (Preacher) and is co written by Danny Brocklehurst who has an impressive list of British TV hits including also being the co writer of the Netflix smash series The Stranger. This is very different to that though and is very crude but also very funny at times. Just the perfect thing for this bank holiday weekend!

The extravagant glam scene had never interested me, not a huge glitter rock fan either but I do enjoy early Roxy Music, Eno and Bowie (the music, attitude and energy mostly, the Ziggy concept & fashion bore me to tears). Nevertheless, this Velvet Goldmine is quite fascinating (and definitely amusing visually) with excellent acting all around (impressive McGregor), a compelling storyline and a torrent of good rock music. Very interesting.

now finished. Very happy with how this went. Looks like a Season II might be in the offing although like a lot of things could be a long way off.

Enjoyed the first episode of Emergence and glad to see that the wonderful Alison Dolman has been given the perfect vehicle for her talent. The character she plays is a bit of a throwback to the police woman she played in the TV version of Fargo. If you liked that then watch this . It has a bit of sci-fi mystery thrown in for good measure with a little girl who could maybe be an alien (or a covert government experiment?!). Got me thinking. This is going to be fun Smile

Jean and I recently watched all six episodes of the first season of the Norwegian series "Magnus - Troll Hunter". Each episode was about 30 minutes long.

The series is like a cross between "Pink Panther" and "Stranger Things". Some of it felt as if it was made for kids, but there were a lot of murders and a scene in which a man was raped by two gnomes (not small men, the mystical creatures) which ended with the man having gnome semen on his face. A kind of Nordic Noir meets Harry Potter. Very weird but also very amusing. We are looking forward to the second season.
