 Topic: Revolver or Pet Sounds?

Which of these albums from 1966 you prefer? My choice is Pet Sound, hands down.

My vote goes to Revolver. Not only is it my favorite Beatles album but it's also one of my favorite albums of that period.

You know, Rubber soul inspired Pet sounds, and it also inspired Revolver. Paul listened to Pet Sounds and decided to use that as an inspiration for Sgt Pepper's lonely hearts club band. And after that, Brian Wilson listened to A day in the life (A Sgt Pepper's song) and got really sad because he felt that The Beatles did it better and he couldn't do it better (or something like that)
I'm voting for Pet Sounds, because without Pet Sounds, Sgt Pepper would sound like a second part of Revolver.

^^ My friends and I were upset that Sgt. Pepper was not Revolver part two. I was around back then and Sgt. Pepper was not as well received as you might think. It took a lot of people some time to warm up to it.

Actually, it was "Strawberry Fields Forever" that Brian Wilson listened to and while it didn't outright kill his drive to complete Smile (the man had already penned "Surf's Up", which, in a way, was his own "Strawberry Fields"), the drive to try and better himself kind of accelerated his burn out. Back on topic, better album... I guess Revolver.

Revolver. I always considered Surf's Up to be the best BB album as opposed to Pet Sounds. I know it doesn't have as much of an influential feeling that the latter did but it still is good on it's own merits.

but Pet Sounds is...something more... words fail me at 5:30 in the morning when I should be in bed doing unspeakable things to Raff.
Easily in the McList of top 5 albums ever recorded. Whereas Revolver is merely a top 20'r.

Pet Sounds. Start to finish a great listen. Much like Revolver; so it's close.
Revolver's not bad when the singles get included. Precursor to later and to so many inferior indie type alternative albums. I think it's to indie pop what ITCOTCK is to symphonic rock.
Got To Get You Into My Life is the highlight for me, terrific soul number and made for Earth Wind And Fire. Very versatile album.
