based on their etymological explanation

Alternative
"offering one or the other of two,",  "do one thing and then another, do by turns,""one after the other, alternate, in turns, reciprocal, the other. "purporting to be a superior choice to what is in general use"

Independent
"not dependent on something else," "able to live well without labor", "unbiased, set up so as to be unaffected by outside influence""one who acts according to his own will"."person not acting as part of a political party."

Progressive
"characterized by advancement, by striving for change and innovation, avant-garde, liberal". "favoring reform; radically liberal,""one who favors social and political change in the name of progress"

Dig me...But don't...Bury me
I'm running still, I shall until, one day, I hope that I'll arrive

Alternative/Independent/progressive. Not always in that order.

Indepedent is the cloest I guess, although I don't believe that anyone is never influenced by others.
Ultimately bored by endless ecstasy!

Agreed.

And why can't progressive mean willing to move forward without the political implications given in the definition above? Can't I be progressive in my approach to music preferences for example but not progressive in my approach to politics? Or perhaps I'm more liberal in some ways and more conservative in others, which is, in fact, how I really am.

Seconded. Of the options offered by the OP, only #2 makes some sense since I care rather little about what others think of me.
