I know Dragonforce (prog metal) but are there any prog rock bands with a video game sound with lyrics pertaining to the former?

I've always found Steve Hackett's electric guitar sound on Nursery Cryme to sound very bleep-bloop nintendo-y.
when i was a kid a doller was worth ten dollers - now a doller couldnt even buy you fifty cents

Check out French nutters Pryapisme, especially the first album Rococo Holocaust. No lyrics but some heavy video game influence, along with metal, cheesy Eurodisco and a touch of The Abominable Dr. Phibes.

They aren't on this site but there's a band called Minibosses who are influenced by video game music. They may not be what you are looking for since they are all instrumental but they have done some video game covers. They have some stuff on youtube too. Here's their wikipedia page. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Minibosses

First band that comes to mind is Black Moth Super Rainbow --

second would be Battles --

There used to be a great little site that had tons of Chip-prog, but I can't find it anymore ~

David Arkenstone is one of my favorite prog/new age composers and he apparently wrote the music for War of Warcraft. But I don't know the game.

Mr. Bungle's debut is filled with video game samples. And really, their music has a very soundtracky quality to it.

^ Same goes for Fantomas. They created an entire album with just movie-themes and made them into speedmetal avantgarde weirdness.

I hope you aren't disappointed. I think they're pretty great.

New album on front page. I for one was not disappointed. No, have not got the new one, but checked their bandcamp. Crazy stuff.
