All the bands in this thread are 2 proggy 4 me. While we're at it, I think that it's embarrassing that we haven't included any of these bands on the site. Wink

The Beach Boys
Molly Hatchet
Boy George
Ted Nugent
Marvin Gaye
The London Symphony Orchestra
Bonnie Tyler
Yanni
The Ramones
CCR
The Monkees
Bryan Adams
The Guess Who
Zamfir

Ok. TongueLOL

I hope you are aware that we have a Proto Prog category here so a separate site would be superfluous.LOL

The key point there is none of the other sites are Rate Your Music because that site already exists so there is no point in turning Prog Archives into Yet Another RYM by adding every band that some one thinks is related to is related to is related to is related to Prog...Stern Smile

About one of the only acts mentioned on this thread that should seriously be considered for Prog-related should be (brace yourselves) Yanni.

Sure, the guy became the poster boy for New Age music, but his first couple of albums are very much synth-driven instrumental works not too far removed from Rick Wakeman (although given an overly polished 80's slickness), especially his suprisingly rather good debut `Optimistique' (groan) and his eventual wordly works are far too ambitious and sophisticated to be merely dismissed as "New Age".

Apart from that, his lavish concerts are full of players delivering numerous solo spots throughout the mostly extended pieces, and Yanni himself usually even has a multi-angled f**k-off deck of multiple keyboards front and centre on the stage - slap a cape on him and he could pass for Wakeman's arch-nemesis

^You would have to add Ray Lynch if you do Yanni. And probably Zamphir.

Anyway, the Wakeman/Yanni battle would likely look/sound a lot like this.

Ok, that makes sense.

I still think that Cream should at least be considered though.

I agree.

Every time any one of these discussions are brought up discussing the progressive qualities of non-prog bands, everyone seems to lose their sh**, for lack of a better term. These bands aren't going to be included on the site obviously, and a condescending response with "Well I'm just waiting for someone to say Nickelback, they're pretty progressive right hahaha??" or something just sounds immature to me. Can we just have some fun discussing hypotheticals?
