never .. EVER understood these topics.. and we've seen our fair share. Unless this is ... oh it is...  more thread necromancy.

If it has a great song.. it ain't a horrible album.  Horrible albums.. are by definition... like DT albums.. completely without saving graces. Put a rose on a pile of sh*t...  it becomes disappointing for you've soiled the beauty with feces and all that jazz man.

I was this thread's necromencer LOL

I don't mind this discussion. Nothing wrong with it. In fact most of my early polls were about albums I like and are rather low rated here on PA and I was wondering was there someone like me who enjoyed some of this music. I must have annoyed a few people.

hey thread necromancy is an art man.. a dark art ...but still an art.

I perfected the dark art of thread derailment years ago.... nice to see fellow practitioners of the dark arts around the forum. Cheers Chisti...

I wouldn't say it's awful, but "Open" certainly marks the beginning of the decline of Steve Hillage. the outstanding track is "Earthrise" (and perhaps to a certain degree "The Fire Inside")

The title song of Alice Cooper's Muscle of Love was great, the rest of the album, not so much. Steep, steep drop off from Billion Dollar Babies, released in the same year, 1973.

^Same album, but to me Hard Hearted Alice is only, quite good song, but not even that rise even the near of greatness of Billion Dollar. I think Big Apple opens the album quite ok and Woman machine ends it ok. Alice has told about that album the whole band was more interested to drinkin than making music. They used in their tour of this album same set pieces as in Billor Dollar-tour, so there was no else result than splitting of band. Alice´s next Welcome was his last great album.

I don't agree with Asia's debut being an awful album.
The best stuff is on side 2 especially the first 3 tracks. There is some very obviously commercial driven stuff.
I would pick the track Go from Astra as a great bit of catchy AOR on what is not a very good album.
Weirdly Love Beach is another album that also has decent tracks on side 2 but not so good on side One. Most of Memoirs redeems that album.

Although its far from a bad album and I don't want to get into Chopper's bad books , but Balloon Astronomy's self titled album is very unmemorable apart from the track Even Odds which could be King Crimson at their peak. I often play that track and skip the rest.

Submerged is the clunker on that album. Horrible attempt at a pop song.

I don't know why they put this song on the album, it's a Ted Leonard song, it was on a solo album of his.
I like it, although it's not the best song on the album, I agree to that.

I think every other song is better than the title track. Amazing album. Big Apple Dreamin', Hard Hearted Alice and Man With The Golden Gun are my favorites. In my opinion, the title track is kinda forgettable.

This question keeps bugging me, but the only example I can give is Baby James Harvest by Barclay James Harvest because of Summer Soldier.

All other albums by all other artists have more than just 1 song to offer.

Maybe Relayer by Yes. I like the section Soon so much more than the rest. But the album is not awful, just not my favorite.

Maybe Eagle by Abba, from The Album, wich is one of the best songs ever written. But I don't really care for the rest af the album. But again, it's not awful, just not my taste.
But, Eagle, oh my god, that song. Brings chills down my spine. Almost prog.
