Koenji - I don't know but Bondage Fruit don't grab me - that Ruins album is fine with some great playing but lacks colour - the other two not quite in the same league as the overall magnificent Koenjihyakkei.

All great albums, but BF II was my gateway into the Japanese scene. Love that album.

If it was a different BF album I would probably vote for that, but as is I'll go with VK over Jackson.

I vote for Taiga. Bondage Fruit's second comes second, and Viva Koenji! comes third. I never got into the other two albums so much.
Just a fanboy passin' through.

I'm not an avant garde fan...but I have a soft spot for Koenji and Ruins. I think I prefer Koenji.
Two random guys agreed to shake hands. Just Because. They felt like it, you know. It was an agreement of sorts...a random agreement.

This is a really tough one.  I voted for the Bondage Fruit, which I adore, but I'm not sure it qualifies as Avant-Garde even though it's certainly RIO/Prog.
I have the same issue with another choice that isn't listed:  Tipographica - God Says I Can't Dance.  RIO?  Certainly.  Avant-Garde?  Maybe not.

Very nice to meet another Tipographica fan. All their albums are the bee's knees, but GSICD is the best of all.

On the poll, I voted BF2. Not their finest but still a colossal record.

If the OOIOO option had been Gamel I might have voted for that, though.

Funny poll. I really dig Koenji but much prefer Ni. The same goes for OOIOO where I'd pick Green & Gold over Taiga, which seems to be a somewhat rare opinion looking at the ratings. I just love the krautrock flavour to Green & Gold is all.

As for this poll? First vote for Jackson. Brilliant Japanese take on King Crimson and a little extra katjing here and another bing there. Fun fact: toast toasts wonderfully to this album.

Tipographica are great...but slightly inferior to the band they later metamorphosed into: Date Course Pentagon Royal Garden
Structure et Force baby

Damn...Naughty step for me I guess.
I've just always referred to that album as Ni that I tend to forget it's "full" title

Missing Katra Turana in this poll, their s/t debut could have been the winner for me ... will pick Koenji from this list
