More fairly fantastique films: 1991 - 2003

Of these, Oldboy is my definite pick, although Delicatessen is lovely. Fargo is great, but it's probably my sixth or so favorite Coen brothers film.

i like Addaption but probably equal or better movies of its kind that year. but also Butterfly Effect with Aston Kutcher deserve some love and affection. Also think Stargate is one of those wierd stand-alone sci-fi (though it spawned a huge francise later on) one can easly view the movie by itself without watching any of the series.

Being JM from the list, only seen about a third of them.   I would also cite :

well I guess i hated 28 Days Later went full retard after the first brilliant half an hour or so.

This list started trying to be sci-fi/ the fantastic oriented, but I decided to spread the parameters as I was struggling and although I like all the films here to some extent (28 Days Later not so much, barely remember it at all) and various of these would make my top "this period" list, and all could make a a really long list, were I to pick my top 25 from those years it would be quite different. I love the choices which have been mentioned in this topic and a few of them I considered. Happiness, Europa, Spider, Barton Fink, Dead Man, Punch Drunk Love, Gummo, I mean I love those films. I kind of realized as I was doing the poll that that really is the kind of film that I really was going for with this poll (surreal edged films). And Unbreakable works well that for that too, and liked it as well.
