I think that The Deep Freeze Mice should be added to ProgArchives.

Based out of Leicester, they produced ten albums in the 1980s.  Although heavily influenced by the new wave scene, they were really a prog band in disguise (in my opinion!)

Brilliantly original ideas, shifting time signatures, humour, weirdness and 20-minute tracks! What more could you want?  Possibly my favourite band of all time (and I don't waste time listening to anything that isn't prog).

Here is their Gates of Lunch album:

Godzilla Loves Me I'm an Ashtray (just one of their many "eclectic" tracks, so be patient with it):

Thanks for considering the suggestion.

I think the Deep Freeze Mice would go down well with people who like VdGG.

They sound like Peter Hammill and Syd Barrett have got together to make Marquee Moon.

This is a pretty damn tasty new wave/post-punk band...but prog? I don't think so.

Largely my thoughts. Some of the longer 20+ minute tracks might qualify as Avant-Prog, but even then I'm not so sure.

Thanks both for the feedback.

I don't know what my family are going to think when I tell them it's not prog on my headphones.

Largely the thoughts of the other eclectic prog team members, in fact; the Deep Freeze Mice have been rejected.
