It was very rare to me that tape player eat the cassette, I think the reason was high-quality player and cassette. Of course sometimes in the car it happened because those players were never high-quality. And of course also that time I respect much more vinyl than cassette. And agree pre-recorded cassettes were mostly poor because record companies want to save up for money in cassettes.
